In the early years of the 20th century, the Kingsman agency is formed to stand against a cabal plotting a war to wipe out millions.
2017 sequel “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” wasn’t QUITE as mega as 2014’s “Kingsman: The Secret Service”, but prequel “The King’s Man” is – thanks again to Matthew Vaughn spectacularly directing a superb script he co-wrote (this time with Karl Gajdusek). Brit duke Ralph Fiennes (perfect) with staff Gemma Arterton & Djimon Hounsou try protecting son Harris Dickinson from WWI that’s brewing thru true historical icons played by the likes of Rhys Ifans (outstanding), Tom Hollander, Charles Dance & Ron Cook (with Matthew Goode, Daniel Brühl & others) but are pulled into secret service style action as it kicks off. It may be caricature Bond, but boy it WORKS. Brilliant.
After watching his movie twice I still can not believe how much I like it. Not a smidgen of the usual Follywood woke asinine nonsense! Historically acurate for the most part. Great special effects albeit CGI. I was taken aback by the lack of dark humor found in the other Kingsmen films. The use of actual historical characters in fictional yet totally believable roles is clever without overreaching. Good old fashioned period action thriller. And get this. A white guy is the hero!!
The action scenes are fresh and feels like a modern mix of Bond and MI2. It’s awesome to see a stellar cast of really great actors! Rhys Ifans and Matthew Goode are scene stealers and the goats were my fave lol. Some weirdness for sure with Rhys but well he’s Rhys lol The storytelling is nicely paced, I usually get bored with 19th century battle scenes but the one here was breathtaking and unpredictably shocking.
One actor playing the 3 heads of state was quite funny. The fashion and style are eye candies. Ralph Fiennes is awesome as always, a senior James Bond of some sort. It’s a must watch!
I’ve loved all the kingsman’s movies.this IS different, but in a good way.i can’t understand some of the low ratings.it had emotion, action and marvel like qualities, all wrapped up in a history lesson on acid!if you know this period of history, there are a lot of true facts, sprinkled into the storyline. Ralph Fiennes was great-action man one moment and touching father figure the next.it exlained, very well, the whole reason and fervent emotion behind the the kingsman group, therefore I think the emotional parts and emphasis on the father son relationship(which some may have found ‘slow’)were necessary.amazingly, inspite of all its action,it also cleverly anti war.great inspiring,action-packed,emotional watch.the whole trilogy is superb and this didn’t dissapoint.give it a watch, you won’t be dissappinted either!
